ABOUT
THE WORK
One of the many constants humanity possesses is its ever-expanding body knowledge. Each of us are entrenched upon it and have a different relationship to its various domains. I take no particular interest in any one field, but instead, in its totality: the study of life, its process, and its happenings. My work attempts to condense my interests and skills in digital painting into a dynamic, animated world to celebrate the vibrant spirit of humanity.
There are a number of reoccurring aesthetic themes in my work and all of them correspond to an observed aspect of reality. With basic elements comprising all areas of our world, I sought to capture it with granular textures and noise. Mysticism remains latent in the human experience and I sought to capture it through use of organic forms, fluid, dynamic poses, and explicit references to the divine. Language is also paramount to the expression of spirit, and this is conveyed by employing a constructed language whose aesthetics were inspired by various Semitic languages.
The world before us unfolds to each of us as we persist in different places, cultures, and frames of reference and they all collide to form our Episteme, our body of knowledge that spans the history of humanity and beyond. Scenes depicted are references to the internal history of its own fantastical setting.
